What To Expect
Acupuncture involves the quick insertion of very fine, sterile, single-use needles into specific points on the body to facilitate the body's natural healing abilities. At the initial appointment, you can expect to present and discuss a chief complaint, along with a thorough medical history and current state of health. You and your practitioner will discuss your goals for care and develop an individualized treatment plan. Needles are inserted in a quick manner to facilitate patient comfort. Acupuncture needles are small, thin, and flexible, like a cat's whisker. Once the needle is inserted, it is common to feel some unique sensations such as a warm, spreading, or heavy sensation. Most people find acupuncture to be very relaxing.
In addition to acupuncture, your treatment may consist of a combination of several other traditional Chinese medical modalities including moxibustion, herbal medicine, cupping, tui na medical massage, eastern dietary therapy, and qi gong meditative movement exercises.
We recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing to your appointment.
Appointments last 60 minutes.
Chiropractic is the use of a specific and cotrolled thurst through a joint to help restore lost range of motion. Restoration of this motion can help reduce pain, and improve the overal function of the body. At your initial visit, you can expect to present your chief complaint as well as your past and present medical history. Following this, you and the doctor will go through a series of neurologic and orthopedic exams to determine what the cause of your chief complaint is and will create a tailored treatment plan for you so as to best help you achieve your goals. Your treatment may also consist of: instrument assisted soft tissue manipulation, cupping, rehabilitative exercises and dietary therapy.
The initial appointment will typically last about 60 minutes, and return visits last 30 minutes.
